Karaoke Music and Songs
October 28th, 2009 -- Posted in Karaoke | No Comments »
In Karaoke, amateurs sing into a microphone, to recorded music, while reading lyrics displayed on a video screen, generally for the purpose of personal entertainment and pleasure. It is held on a public address system like other shows but does not stage professionals and is largely informal in nature. Karaoke music is usually the famous pop music of the time and the actual singer’s voice is toned down to make the Karaoke singer heard.
Karaoke music and songs originate from Japan, where is part of their culture to entertain through music and songs at dinner. South Korea and Japan abound in Karaoke clubs where Karaoke music and songs are very common and these have now widely spread over the years, to Asian and American regions.
With the great acceptance and liking for Karaoke music and songs, Karaoke machines to keep inside houses were soon launched, but these failed to capture markets in the U.S. and Canada. Soon after this, karaoke machines were not being sold strictly for the purpose of karaoke anymore, but as home theater systems to give theater like sound quality at home. Home theater systems soon replaced karaoke, which from having been the main purpose of the stereo system, became one of its side features.
Many low priced entertainment systems with a Karaoke mode are now available for those who wish to hold a Karaoke party at home. Center removal is a method through which the vocals are removed from songs for Karaoke purposes.
Karaoke is now widespread all over the world and enjoyed by many. It is a great unwinding and entertainment process since it is such an informal genre of music.

An Overview of Karaoke DVDs – Music Formats, Choices & Options
October 12th, 2009 -- Posted in Karaoke | 1 Comment »Many families are buying karaoke machines for home entertainment. It’s a great way for the family to get together and have a real fun night. This of course means you have to buy some karaoke DVDs, otherwise there is no need for the karaoke machine. What makes this so much fun is when people are singing karaoke, its their voice that stands out they are not singing over the vocals. Although they can if they want to.
Karaoke DVD’s are a little different then regular DVDs. They come in a variety of different ways. You can get 16 song DVDs. Here you will have a full selection of music. In addition these DVDs have the graphic scripting included on them. This is what makes them different than the regular music cds that you buy. It’s the graphic scripting that allows the lyrics to show up on the TV or the monitor. Often the DVDs come with a book that includes all the lyrics for each and every song on the DVD.
Then you can buy Karaoke DVDs that have 8+8 songs for example. This is a 16 track DVD. You get 8 songs with the lead vocal, and you get 8 songs without the vocal. This is used when you want to learn the songs, and its sometimes easier to start off singing with the vocalist. Then as you become familiar with the tones etc. you can switch over to the non vocal. Its an excellent way to learn new songs.
With some karaoke DVDs the lyrics will appear on the screen and highlighted in time with the music. Colors will swirl around and pulsate with the rhythm. This just adds excitement to your performance. It sort of helps you stay in tune a bit as well. Its like the old bouncing ball music that used to be played when we were children, so we could follow along. It may help you not lose your place.
One thing is for sure, you are certainly not going to find any shortage of choice in music. The amount you have to choose from will almost be overwhelming. Now making the choice is easier if you are running your own karaoke business. If its for home use, you don’t need near the selection that the KDJ is going to require. Its still nice to build a collection though. Which you will over time no doubt. Karaoke can become addictive.
One way you may want to consider buying your DVDs, is over the internet. There are a lot of good reasons to do this. First all you can take your time and browse through the various selections. You can narrow down your search just to the music you like. It can be much more cost effective. When you have been out to off line stores spending hours going through DVDs, you get tired ,and in the end just grabbing whatever is there. When you are shopping on line, you can take your time. Even leave and come back to it. This way you can shop for the bargains.

The History & Evolution of Karaoke Songs – Music Through the Ages
October 11th, 2009 -- Posted in Karaoke | No Comments »So karaoke songs are just like any other songs right? Well yes and no. They have the same tunes but they are not by the same artists. Karaoke music is never performed by the same artists that prepared it for the vocalists. That’s why you will notice a big difference in the same music being offered by different Karaoke disc jockeys. It all depends on which label they buy.
You can find almost every type of karaoke song that you could possibly want. It has become just as popular as our standard forms of cds, and DVDs. Again you will find that you probably will form certain preferences to the labels. You can find karaoke songs that will have the vocalist that you can sing along with, or just the background music or even both.
There are always favorite by the majorities. In 2007 it was “I will survive” Gloria Gaynor lyrics, second in the running is “I got you babe” cher lyrics, then the third is “Sweet Caroline” Neil Diamond lyrics. These are pretty interesting choices being as they are not heavy rock or pop, and they have been around for years. Last on a list of about 50 is “we built this city”.
Karaoke songs are gaining a lot of popularity among the Christian sector. it’s a wonderful way for a church soloist to practice his/her music. It provides great background music for choirs that haven’t a music system. Its even perfect for the church audience to sing along with.
These songs can also be beneficial for children to practice their speech with. More often than not children find it easier to sing then to talk, and by getting them to sing it may help them with their pronunciation.
In 2007 there was a general concessions of what was the worst songs. Starting at the bottom of the list. The 10th on this list was “Friends In Low Places” Lyrics by Garth Brooks. The general idea of this one was to get everyone listening to join in and sing with you. Fifth place was “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mixalot. Then finally the grand winner of the worst song for 2007 is awarded to “Love Shack” by B-52s.
So as one can see there are the same trends, and ups and downs in karaoke songs just like the regular songs.
Then there’s the most over done ones. Songs that everybody wants to do and feels most comfortable with. “Crazy” By Patsy Kline, is a well loved song. Probably that’s why this one is such a popular one. “Delta Dawn” by Tanya Tucker. This one is one that almost everyone has heard, and it often the first one that comes to mind when going over the charts to choose from.” Summer Nights” by John Travola and Olivia Newton John is dubbed as probably being one of the most popular duets every sung.
There are many factors that people consider when they are picking the song they want to sing at a Karaoke and often is not based on whether they have the voice for that song. Its usually based on, because they just like that song the best, it sounds like its going to be the easiest to sing, or they like the artist.

Karaoke Music Suggestions You Will Love
August 4th, 2009 -- Posted in Karaoke | No Comments »When discussing karaoke music, we have to look at two different aspects. On one hand, you’ll need to choose the right karaoke hits for your collection to ensure everyone’s satisfied and your karaoke party doesn’t turn into an awkward “So, who is going next” scenario. On the other hand, you will need to consider where and how to buy these songs, either on CD, DVD, CD G or mp3. Perhaps you may not even want to buy them at all, instead opting for getting your fix of karaoke online.
Girls and guys have their favorite karaoke hits that have withstood the test of time, so be sure to add the following favorites to your karaoke song collection. Girls like empowering songs of survival, enduring sexuality and sass. To appease these spunky vixens include such tunes as “These Boots Were Made For Walkin’” (Nancy Sinatra), “I Will Survive” (Gloria Gaynor) “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” (Pat Benatar), “Venus” (Bananarama), “I Love Rock N Roll” (Joan Jett), “I’m Just A Girl” (No Doubt/Gwen Stefani), “Like A Virgin” (Madonna), “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” (Cyndi Lauper), “Feel Like A Woman” (Shania Twain), “You’re So Vain” (Carly Simon), “She Works Hard For The Money” (Donna Summer), “Respect” (Aretha Franklin), “Sweet Dreams” (Eurythmics), “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” (Whitney Houston), “Listen To Your Heart” (Roxette) and “Black Velvet” (Alannah Myles).
Karaoke music for guys should be fun, macho and hilarious. Fun karaoke songs for them might include “Sweet Child O’ Mine” (Guns N’ Roses), “Sharp-Dressed Man” (ZZ Top), “Werewolves of London” (Warren Zevon), “Sultans of Swing,” (Dire Straits), “Bohemian Rhapsody” (Queen) and “Celebrate” (Kool & The Gang). “Man’s man” karaoke songs might be “Girls, Girls, Girls” (Motley Crue), “You Shook Me All Night Long” (AC/DC), “You Give Love A Bad Name” (Bon Jovi), “Macho Man” (The Village People), “Baby Got Back” (Sir Mix-a-lot), “I’m Too Sexy” (Right Said Fred), “Hurt So Good” (John Mellencamp) and “Born To Be Wild” (Steppenwolf). Funny songs include “Because I Got High” (Afroman), “Billie Jean” (Michael Jackson) or “Friends In Low Places” (Garth Brooks), although the funniest karaoke songs usually aren’t intentional.
When it comes to karaoke music, there are just some songs that are must-haves for your collection. Even though you may not belt out Neil Diamond’s cheesy “Sweet Caroline” as you’re getting ready in the morning, you’d be crazy not to have it at your next karaoke party. Everyone will be chorusing the “bah bah bah’s” to make the karaoke party even more fun. Another famous group sing-a-long is Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ On A Prayer,” with everyone from 15-50 shouting out “whoaaaaa-ohhhhh, livin on a prayer” like an eighties rocker. Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin” is so corny it’s perfect for your next karaoke get together and don’t think you’ll get through the night without someone choosing Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl,” where all participants sing “sha-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-lad-di-da.”

Deaf Karaoke
July 28th, 2009 -- Posted in Karaoke | No Comments »There are perhaps few things more embarrassing than being taken out to a karaoke bar and made to sing in front of an expectant audience — especially if you are tone deaf. A tone-deaf person lacks the ability to decipher between notes. Thus, a tone-deaf person is incapable of replicating them. In common parlance, tone deafness refers to a person’s incapability of reproducing musical notes. However, contrary to popular opinion, such incapacity is a reflection of sheer lack of talent or musical training than any kind of ailment. Still, tone-deaf karaoke singers are an amusing lost.Tone-deaf karaoke can be absolute fun, especially if you are not the one on stage. Discordant notes and off-key vocals may not amuse the music aficionado, but for light hearted fun on a stress busting weekend, there is nothing more entertaining than listening to tone deaf karaoke singer.
However, there have been reports of tone-deaf people going into severe bouts of depression after their tryst with karaoke singing. Yet, they are not the only ones suffering from this malady. People with normal singing ability can tone deaf on stage after having a drink too many and coerced into singing by their friends.
Nevertheless, advancement in technology guarantees help in all walks of life.
Weekends and year-end office parties may not be as terrorizing for the tone-deaf singer ass it once was. SK Telecom, Korea, have claimed to create some sort of an online cure for the tone-deaf karaoke singer. It is a mobile that consists of three parts: identifying, tone-deaf curing and music treatment. The tone-deaf diagnosis will show how sensitive is a person’s ear is to sound; more specifically tone, beat and rhythm. The curing heightens the sensitivity, and the music treatment develops the singing talent.

Karaoke MP3 Players Give Singers Music and Lyrics
January 2nd, 2009 -- Posted in Karaoke | No Comments »Back in the late 1990s, MP3 players revolutionized the way people listen to music. Today, karaoke MP3 players are revolutionizing the way people sing.
For those who are unfamiliar with the origins of MP3 players, MP3 is a file extension name (.mp3) for a type of compressed audio file. Typically, an MP3 file retains the quality of the sound while compressing it to about one-twelfth its original size. Early MP3 players were made with flash memory, and could hold only about 20 songs. Today, MP3 players (and digital audio players like the iPod) have internal hard drives that can hold thousands of songs.
In the early days, MP3 downloads were songs “ripped” from CDs and “shared” via the Internet. That was deemed to be illegal copyright infringement, and eventually led to online music stores that sold not only top 20 Billboards but also virtually any song available for sale. MP3 music players became ubiquitous and everyone from teenagers walking down the street to businessmen on airline flights could be seen with the telltale earbuds in their ears.
Today, MP3 players have gone to the next level, providing not only listening pleasure, but also the satisfaction of being able to read the song lyrics and sing along. These MP3 karaoke players are the hot new gadgets on the market, and capitalize on the popularity of such hit TV shows as “American Idol,” “Don’t Forget the Lyrics!” and “The Singing Bee.”
Karaoke MP3 players are a breeze to use. Simply put, the user takes his or her MP3 downloads, loads them into the karaoke MP3 player, and then enters the lyrics. You can either enter the actual lyrics of the song or your own version of the lyrics. Once you’ve entered the lyrics, you can use the manufacturer’s software to remove the vocal track from the song. This leaves you with only the music. From there, the screen on the MP3 player displays the lyrics as you sing along and records your voice over the melody. From there, you can share “your song” with friends, submit it as an audition, or simply listen for your own enjoyment.
Unlike regular karaoke machines, which are bulky and require setting up, karaoke MP3 players are the ultimate mobile devices. In addition, karaoke music players rely on karaoke CDs to display the lyrics and play the music. You can forget the top 20 Billboards, since by the time a song makes it on a karaoke CD, it’s long past its prime. In contrast, karaoke MP3 players allow you to use MP3 downloads of the most current hits – as well as old favorites.
There’s little doubt that MP3 players have come a long way, and that the new wave of karaoke MP3 players are in perfect harmony with today’s trend to sing along and sing out loud!

History Of Karaoke
January 2nd, 2009 -- Posted in Karaoke | No Comments »?Always keep a song in your heart – it’s like karaoke for the voices in your head?
-Robert Fulton Abernethy
Music has been part of the development of every culture in the world. People had few forms of entertainment and song and dance were the biggest among them.
Karaoke came into existence in Japan in the early 1970?s when a group of businessmen asked popular nightclub performer Daisuke Inoue to make recordings of his songs for their entertainment. Since what they were really interested in was singing along, these businessmen also asked him to remove the singing from the songs and then display the lyrics. With some insight, Inoue realized that this could actually be a good business opportunity and he invented the first karaoke machine. This was actually a tape recorder that allowed people to play a song after accepting a hundred yen coin. Moreover, Inoue did not sell these tapes; instead, he rented them out. Although this amount was entirely too expensive for the Japanese, the trend caught on.
Karaoke started as supplementary entertainment, the kind placed as an alternative to drinking and eating. Machines were placed in hotels, parks, and restaurants for this very purpose. It took a few years for karaoke to come into its own, and when it did, it took an inescapable grip on the populace. The first sort of karaoke bars was a small booth with a karaoke machine and was referred to as a karaoke box. This could be rented on hourly basis to small groups for private entertainment. These developments took place even before karaoke had become popular recreation in western nations and karaoke boxes continue to be popular places in Japan. The karaoke bar, in its modern form came in to being when karaoke finally reached the west. The trend spread like wildfire. Soon, nightclubs, lounges, caf
Karaoke Lyrics
October 8th, 2008 -- Posted in Karaoke | No Comments »Song brought a whole new era in human existence, making the expression of many feelings and sentiments possible, enabling communication, and creating a condition in which people could actually sing to the music they heard around them. No one can deny that the charm of a karaoke session is apparent only when all people present know and understand the lyrics. Karaoke lyrics refer to the words the songs, whose tunes are being meted out by the karaoke box.
Generally, karaoke discs come in a combined audio-visual format, in which the music is played on the speaker and the words displayed on a television set. If however, the music system has not been connected to a display unit, the lyrics will not be seen and singers will have to depend on memory for the wording of a song. Moreover, if s singer forgets a few lines or messes up their order, the entire karaoke session can go for a toss. This is mainly why karaoke bars always use large display screen for karaoke lyrics.
When people are unsure of the lyrics, they are generally reluctant to sing. Having a display of karaoke lyrics is generally enough to get them off their chairs and on to the stage. When the karaoke lyrics are not embedded in the CD, they can be downloaded from the Internet. Using the media drives of a personal computer, people can even have a ready-to-use karaoke at home to play and display all karaoke songs. At times, the karaoke lyrics are color coded to depict rose and fall of voice and music. At times, these lyrics are displayed along with the original video of the song, so if people please they can look at the actual singer instead of the one pretending to be it.
Most regular players are not equipped to read lyrics from karaoke CDs since they are not designed to read the coded words. Specialized lyric editors that can read file of all formats and synchronize the karaoke lyrics are preferable to regular music systems.

Karaoke Songs For All Ages – Age Groups & Its Effect on Karaoke Music
January 20th, 2008 -- Posted in Karaoke | No Comments »Almost every age group we have, has karaoke lovers, and they all seem to enjoy the karaoke songs no matter what age group they are most applicable to. Having said that, every age group pretty much has its favorites though. If you are a Karaoke Disc Jockey it might be beneficial for you to know what songs would fit in best or be most popular with the general age group of your audience. Here are just a few examples of how you could categorize your music according to audience age group.
Suppose you are doing a birthday party for pre schoolers or entertaining a family group. Here is where your job is really going to get challenging, trying to please such a wide diversity of age groups. Perhaps at one time the little ones would have run off to play while the adults did their little sing along. Not anymore these little ones want in on the action. Most likely if they have learned how to talk then they are ready to sink karaoke songs.
Often these songs that are favored on the nursery rhyme or kindergarten songs such as, Baa Baa Black sheep, Oh Susanna, or old MacDonald had a farm. Think back and you’ll remember how much you enjoyed them as a kid.
Ok, so now you have tired out the little ones lets move onto the preteens. These are so hard to please. They pretty well choose their karaoke songs based on what the older ones will like. Only problem here is if parents are present then they might not be too happy at their pre teeners belting out some heavy metal music. Try and find a happy medium here. You just might convince the kids to sing out some Daddy A Go Go karaoke songs. They may or may not be their favorites but they do find them amusing.
For all the in-betweens now is going to be your easiest part. For the teens you are going to need a selection of the most current karaoke songs, in rock, heavy rock and rap. Then for the parents you’re looking at songs from the 50’s up to the 80’s. Oh yes there’s a bit more that has got to be included here. For each of these eras you need a selection of rock and roll, country western, jazz, and perhaps some blues.
For the senior there something sad about their music, and that’s becomes it comes from a time when so many of their loved ones were killed in the wars. So the music they seem to play and love the most is what is called the old war songs. To your best to have a selection of Karaoke songs to fit this age group. Such as the white cliffs of Dover, or I’ll take you home again Kathleen. One only needs to look at the face of one of the seniors singing these songs and you will see a flood of memories pass across their face.
So doing a karaoke party for a mixed group can be pretty challenging when it comes to the music. After all you do want to be popular amongst all age groups. If you have a tight budget however, you might want to stick to entertaining the age group that you have the most music for.
