Karaoke Music and Songs

October 28th, 2009 -- Posted in Karaoke | No Comments »

In Karaoke, amateurs sing into a microphone, to recorded music, while reading lyrics displayed on a video screen, generally for the purpose of personal entertainment and pleasure. It is held on a public address system like other shows but does not stage professionals and is largely informal in nature. Karaoke music is usually the famous pop music of the time and the actual singer’s voice is toned down to make the Karaoke singer heard.

Karaoke music and songs originate from Japan, where is part of their culture to entertain through music and songs at dinner. South Korea and Japan abound in Karaoke clubs where Karaoke music and songs are very common and these have now widely spread over the years, to Asian and American regions.

With the great acceptance and liking for Karaoke music and songs, Karaoke machines to keep inside houses were soon launched, but these failed to capture markets in the U.S. and Canada. Soon after this, karaoke machines were not being sold strictly for the purpose of karaoke anymore, but as home theater systems to give theater like sound quality at home. Home theater systems soon replaced karaoke, which from having been the main purpose of the stereo system, became one of its side features.

Many low priced entertainment systems with a Karaoke mode are now available for those who wish to hold a Karaoke party at home. Center removal is a method through which the vocals are removed from songs for Karaoke purposes.

Karaoke is now widespread all over the world and enjoyed by many. It is a great unwinding and entertainment process since it is such an informal genre of music.

An Overview of Karaoke DVDs – Music Formats, Choices & Options

October 12th, 2009 -- Posted in Karaoke | 1 Comment »

Many families are buying karaoke machines for home entertainment. It’s a great way for the family to get together and have a real fun night. This of course means you have to buy some karaoke DVDs, otherwise there is no need for the karaoke machine. What makes this so much fun is when people are singing karaoke, its their voice that stands out they are not singing over the vocals. Although they can if they want to.

Karaoke DVD’s are a little different then regular DVDs. They come in a variety of different ways. You can get 16 song DVDs. Here you will have a full selection of music. In addition these DVDs have the graphic scripting included on them. This is what makes them different than the regular music cds that you buy. It’s the graphic scripting that allows the lyrics to show up on the TV or the monitor. Often the DVDs come with a book that includes all the lyrics for each and every song on the DVD.

Then you can buy Karaoke DVDs that have 8+8 songs for example. This is a 16 track DVD. You get 8 songs with the lead vocal, and you get 8 songs without the vocal. This is used when you want to learn the songs, and its sometimes easier to start off singing with the vocalist. Then as you become familiar with the tones etc. you can switch over to the non vocal. Its an excellent way to learn new songs.

With some karaoke DVDs the lyrics will appear on the screen and highlighted in time with the music. Colors will swirl around and pulsate with the rhythm. This just adds excitement to your performance. It sort of helps you stay in tune a bit as well. Its like the old bouncing ball music that used to be played when we were children, so we could follow along. It may help you not lose your place.

One thing is for sure, you are certainly not going to find any shortage of choice in music. The amount you have to choose from will almost be overwhelming. Now making the choice is easier if you are running your own karaoke business. If its for home use, you don’t need near the selection that the KDJ is going to require. Its still nice to build a collection though. Which you will over time no doubt. Karaoke can become addictive.

One way you may want to consider buying your DVDs, is over the internet. There are a lot of good reasons to do this. First all you can take your time and browse through the various selections. You can narrow down your search just to the music you like. It can be much more cost effective. When you have been out to off line stores spending hours going through DVDs, you get tired ,and in the end just grabbing whatever is there. When you are shopping on line, you can take your time. Even leave and come back to it. This way you can shop for the bargains.

The History & Evolution of Karaoke Songs – Music Through the Ages

October 11th, 2009 -- Posted in Karaoke | No Comments »

So karaoke songs are just like any other songs right? Well yes and no. They have the same tunes but they are not by the same artists. Karaoke music is never performed by the same artists that prepared it for the vocalists. That’s why you will notice a big difference in the same music being offered by different Karaoke disc jockeys. It all depends on which label they buy.

You can find almost every type of karaoke song that you could possibly want. It has become just as popular as our standard forms of cds, and DVDs. Again you will find that you probably will form certain preferences to the labels. You can find karaoke songs that will have the vocalist that you can sing along with, or just the background music or even both.

There are always favorite by the majorities. In 2007 it was “I will survive” Gloria Gaynor lyrics, second in the running is “I got you babe” cher lyrics, then the third is “Sweet Caroline” Neil Diamond lyrics. These are pretty interesting choices being as they are not heavy rock or pop, and they have been around for years. Last on a list of about 50 is “we built this city”.

Karaoke songs are gaining a lot of popularity among the Christian sector. it’s a wonderful way for a church soloist to practice his/her music. It provides great background music for choirs that haven’t a music system. Its even perfect for the church audience to sing along with.

These songs can also be beneficial for children to practice their speech with. More often than not children find it easier to sing then to talk, and by getting them to sing it may help them with their pronunciation.

In 2007 there was a general concessions of what was the worst songs. Starting at the bottom of the list. The 10th on this list was “Friends In Low Places” Lyrics by Garth Brooks. The general idea of this one was to get everyone listening to join in and sing with you. Fifth place was “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mixalot. Then finally the grand winner of the worst song for 2007 is awarded to “Love Shack” by B-52s.
So as one can see there are the same trends, and ups and downs in karaoke songs just like the regular songs.

Then there’s the most over done ones. Songs that everybody wants to do and feels most comfortable with. “Crazy” By Patsy Kline, is a well loved song. Probably that’s why this one is such a popular one. “Delta Dawn” by Tanya Tucker. This one is one that almost everyone has heard, and it often the first one that comes to mind when going over the charts to choose from.” Summer Nights” by John Travola and Olivia Newton John is dubbed as probably being one of the most popular duets every sung.

There are many factors that people consider when they are picking the song they want to sing at a Karaoke and often is not based on whether they have the voice for that song. Its usually based on, because they just like that song the best, it sounds like its going to be the easiest to sing, or they like the artist.
